This report is a register of organizations and networks with a gender profile in Norway 1990-2008. The assignment is carried out for the EU-project FEMCIT: Gendered citizenship in multicultural Europe: The impact of the contemporary Women’s movement and Gender equality, cultural diversity, religious pluralism: State policies and feminist interventions (PLUREQ). The aim of this report is to present an overview over the organisational landscape in regard to gender issues. What kind of organizations exists on this field? Are the organizations based on national, ethnic or religious background or on mutual political interests? What is the structure of public funding for non governmental organizations in the relevant field? The register includes women’s organizations, gender political organizations, men’s organizations and immigrant organizations and religious organizations with a gender perspective.
The report focuses particularly on the intersection between women’s organizations and immigrant’s organizations. The register contains information on profile, founding year, membership, organisational data, national/local organizational level, organizational activities, participation in public hearings, state subsidies, internet pages and contact information. Chapter 1 includes reflections on background and the aim of the project and presents some relevant research. Chapter 2 focuses on methodological design. Chapter 3 is the actual register where organizations and organizational data are presented. The organizations are categorized into the following categories: gender political organizations, minority organizations, religious organizations, social and humanitarian organizations, women’s committees of organizations and political parties, organizations focusing on gender based violence, local women’s organizations and finally closed women’s organizations.
